Expander 10mm Black or Clear
Expander 10mm, Black or Clear Acrylic.
This 10mm Acrylic UV expander is great for stretched lobe piercings. Once an ear lobe piercing is healed an expander can be slowly pushed through the hole, stretching it as the expander tapers outwards. This expander is not autoclavable.
Our plastic jewellery is manufactured from a variety of different materials. These include Acrylic, Bioflex, Bioplast, PTFE, and Silicone. Please check the product description for more information on what has been used in this piece.
Acrylic is a lightweight and affordable alternative to metal jewellery. It can be produced in any colour, including opaque. It should only be used in healed piercing and is not autoclavable. If soaked in alcohol it would crack or become matt. Because acrylic jewellery is softer and more flexible than metal, it is more comfortable in the event that a piercing is knocked by accident, and it provides a great alternative to metal tongue bars by helping to prevent damage to your gums and teeth. Acrylic piercing jewellery is also a good choice for wear during most medical procedures as it is metal-free, however you should confirm with your doctor before any such procedure whether it is right for you.
Bioflex is a hypoallergenic material that can be steam sterilised and autoclaved, making it ideal for piercings. It is extremely flexible and bends with the body for ultimate comfort. The length of Bioflex jewellery can be easily adjusted by cutting it down to the required size.
Bioplast is a flexible biocompatible material which is autoclavable. Bioplast can be cut to any length and is self-threading with any steel or titanium ball. It has been shown to reduce swelling and accelerate the healing process in new piercings.
PTFE is a flexible, non-stick material that can be cut to any length. It is self threading with any ball, and does not cause any allergic reactions (Nickel free). Because it is non-stick, it causes less friction in your piercing and helps to reduce lymph build up, the white liquid that can appear around a piercing during healing. Like Acrylic, it is also a good choice for wear during most medical procedures, however you should confirm with your doctor before any such procedure whether it is right for you.
Silicone is a chemically inactive rubber-like material mostly made from silica. It is soft, durable, and easy to clean.
